Topic of the week:
This month, we're diving into the legal aspects of the?#FutureOfWork, with a spotlight on?#AI?and data analytics this week.??
AI systems can inherit societal biases, which seep into the data used to train AI models. These biases risk inaccurate outcomes and rights violations, especially in non-discrimination.
?Indeed, when a specific job role has historically favoured one gender, AI algorithms might perpetuate this gender disparity. Data often mirrors entrenched biases, perpetuating discrimination.
Ensuring priority for high-quality data and keeping things transparent is critical to avoid breaches. Using discrimination-free algorithms to kick biases out of AI systems is crucial. Checking in regularly and tackling biases during AI operations helps keep things fair.?
?However, under GDPR, using sensitive data for detecting algorithmic bias lacks explicit provisions, raising legal questions. AI algorithms, powerful but prone to absorbing biases, can perpetuate unfair practices if trained on prejudiced data, impacting decisions related to gender, race, or age.
The recent AI Safety Summit 2023 addressed these issues, sparking discussions on fostering fairer, more inclusive AI systems. ????
