By Focus
When I find myself crashing into painful memories and being swallowed into a dark hole,
I reach into the darkness
with the light of far I have come.
On particularly difficult days,
I start coming out of the darkness by focus.
I focus on the sensations at the moment.
The sound of a powerful breeze
that is so refreshing on my skin.
Cooling me, calming me
and offering to blow away my worries. Sitting with what is in the present
allows my mind
to focus
on what is versus what was,
and my spirit to bathe in gratitude.
