Focus on IMMUNITY
While the world waits for the magical vaccine, with a hope to take us back to our normal lives, I’d like to point out that: Vaccine is not a cure, just as a virus is not a bacteria or the mask or sanitizer are not 100% protective, In fact, over use of the sanitizers will have lasting harmful effect on us.
In layman’s language, a Vaccines are safe “infections.” Typically, they are weakened virus/bacteria, its toxin or surface proteins. Vaccination is the process of injecting or introducing it into the body to trigger our immune system.
When an “infection" or a vaccine, enters our body, our immune system kicks in action: It recognizes and assesses the threat, studies its physical/chemical/biological properties, devices its response, and manufactures the fighting force called as antibodies. Our immune system stores all this information in its memory, and responds immediately after the same antigen attacks the body again anytime in the future.
It is also important to know that, our bodies are constantly exposed to various “infections”, and the immune system is constantly fighting them and defeating them. We fall sick only when our body’s immune system fails, or falls short to fight the “infection.”
Also, there are unknown number of different harmful viruses and bacteria all around us, and vaccines for each one of them is simply not possible. Besides, imagine the time it will take to vaccinate 7.4 billion people in the world to be real safe.
Since our immune system, and not the vaccine, that ultimately cures us, we need to focus on boosting our immune system. There are simple things that can help: Good diet, good sleep, and regular exercise. Research also suggests that positive human interactions keeps us healthy. Besides, certain common Vitamins like C, D and Zinc make our immune system robust. Citrous fruits are rich source of vitamin C; exposure to the Sun will give us enough vitamin D, and whole grains, milk products, oysters, red meats, cashews and almonds nuts are the great sources of Zinc.
God has made our immune system so sophisticated and efficient that, while it often takes years to produce a reliable vaccine, our bodies manufacture the antibodies almost instantly. Let us do our governments, society, economies, medical and scientific community, fellow humans, and ourselves a favor by focusing on our immune system. It will do much good.

4 年Ranjit Gorde a thought provoking article. So often we think of taking shortcuts that can result in further delays! The long road to immunity may be hard, but as you point out, it is worth taking.
Interesting read! Staying at home, using masks is causing a decline in our immune system as we're not being exposed. it'll take time for things to get back to normalcy.
