FOCUS? Give me more of that! 5x key ingredients to help tune your mind from Messy to FOCUSED.

Having, continuously creating and being focused on the things that matter, play a huge part when it comes to setting, consistently working towards and of course smashing your goals.?

Recently, I had a great conversation with one of my clients on how to set our minds to ‘Focus Mode’ and together we started playing with a post Brendon Burchard shared about his 5x key ingredients that turn our minds from Messy to Focused.

In his own words:

Number 1. Be intentional.

Number 2. Seek clarity, not consumption.

Number 3. Work diligently, just to a small number of things. Not everything.

Number 4. Develop mastery in self and serving others.

Number 5. Team, the universe is much bigger than you think, thus so are the rewards of clear thinking and action.?

And here is our interpretation - I hope you are keen to dive in and see what comes up for you?

Number 1. Be intentional.

Intention driven action-taking is key to getting into and staying in ‘Focus Mode’.

Before taking action, we might want to get super clear on:

  • What problem are we solving here??
  • What does success look like when the problem is solved?
  • Are our actions, our thinking, our behaviour, or our inaction, serving to solve that problem??

We want to make sure that we are aligned and intentional when taking action. To be focused is to be intentional.?

With intention comes aligned action and that can be the key to solving a problem or reaching a goal.?

When we begin with an intention or a bigger reason as to WHY we are creating movement and investing time and energy, we can easily spot when we are getting off track and starting to get busy with actions that are not taking us any closer to solving the problem or reaching a goal.

So to skyrocket our success and smash our goals and targets, taking actions intentionally will make all the difference.?

Number 2. Seek clarity, not consumption.

How we consume the information around us can determine how focused we are on the task or goal at hand.?

In his post, Brendon is suggesting, "Seek clarity and not just consume random things".?

Whenever we seek out information, whether that’s on social media, through meetings, conversations or any type of learning or training; it is imperative to zoom in on those nuggets that dial-up clarity to guide us towards solving our problem or reaching our goal faster.?

So when we take in any kind of information, asking the question, "Is it giving me more clarity or just creating noise?" can become a great compass to tell us whether to keep investing our time or pivot away from the information spring we just dipped our toes in.?

When we intentionally take in the information around us it allows us to create ease, clarity and alignment; and gets us closer to our goal.?

Number 3. Work diligently, just to a small number of things. Not everything.

Let’s take it one step further and hone in on just a few or maybe even just 1x thing to focus on?

By consciously choosing a single goal, we are enabling ourselves and our teams the clarity to focus on that 1x finish line before moving on to the next goal.?

Now, you might be thinking “but I am a great multitasker!”, and maybe some people are very good at that; but for me (and you might have noticed this too?)? the more we multitask or the more we divvy up our focus, the more we allow ourselves to be pulled into different directions and creating unnecessary tension and potential overwhelm. We might still get the job done, but is it enjoyable doing it that way?

The more we are zooming in and get stubborn about a single goal, the more likely we are to achieve it. Whereas when we work towards multiple goals, juggling between them can cause a lack of focus and lead to more stress and a much higher likelihood that we might drop them along the way.?

So if you happen to have a tendency towards multitasking, can you allow yourself to pick just one single goal next time and simply focus on that until you’ve smashed it before moving on to the next?

Number 4. Develop mastery in self and service.

How much have we been mastering to show up as our best self every day and how do we serve others at the highest level?

What are the key habits, actions and behaviours that, if we were to master them, would really drive us forward in life? If we were to put the strongest boundaries, the strongest meaning around them, and make them a complete non-negotiable; imagine what that could look like for us??

For my client, the key area to master turned out to be staying consistent and taking action every day.?

What is the 1x thing if you were to master it would make the biggest difference to create Focus?

Number 5. The Universe is much bigger than you think, thus so are the rewards of clear thinking and action.

In my mind, we’re talking about infinite possibilities here.

Imagine what the possibilities could be for us when our thinking and action-taking is clear, focused and intentional towards what we’re looking to achieve?

If we imagine all the possibilities out there, and I believe that they are truly infinite. If we can allow ourselves to imagine them, it's just a matter for us to attract and pull them into our space; into our presence.?

The more intentional we can be with:

  • Our thinking and action-taking,
  • The information we choose to take in,?
  • And the way in which we work and master our lives;

the more we are aligning ourselves to call into existence what we have chosen to achieve or the goal we want to reach.?

So once we’ve got clarity on a goal we want to reach and make it a non-negotiable, creating and keeping our mindset to Focus with the 5x ingredients mentioned above; reaping the rewards will be a natural outcome.?

And OF COURSE, that’ll create a strong basis for growing and scaling your teams and organisation 10X and beyond.

Ultimately, and here's my philosophy, we had a 1x in 6 billion chance to make it onto this planet … So why wouldn't we want to make the most out of this life and truly Focus on what matters??

Because if we can truly Focus, we can dream, act, scale and grow way beyond what we ever thought possible …?
