F.O.C. n' Slides: Self-Belonging

F.O.C. n' Slides: Self-Belonging

The funny thing about being in real belonging, you don't find a lot of impostor syndrome there. That's because real belonging, versus a sense of, insists that you self belong also. And, if there's one thing observed, that doesn't leave much room for the impostor to hang around.

You might be asking yourself, which comes first, self belonging, or belonging with others? That graphic will come tomorrow! So tune in!

The Graphic explained:

Central Theme: Self-Belonging, applying F.O.C. n' Belonging to "You"

Self-Belonging for You: The core idea is about creating belonging within yourself by adopting the principles of Feel, Own, and Care (F.O.C n' Belonging).

F.O.C n' Belonging

  • Feel, Own, Care for Each Other in Successes, Dreams, Failures: This illustrates the F.O.C n' Belonging model applied internally.
  • You should feel, own, and care for your successes, dreams, and failures just as you would for others. And just as importantly, how they would with you.

Four Aspects of Self-Belonging

  1. Self-Talk: We all self-talk, in our heads it happens at 4000 words a minute WPM, while talking with others it drops to 40 WPM.
  2. Voices of Belonging: your self-talk draws upon both your voice and those with whom you belong.
  3. Internal F.O.C: You feel, own, and care for yourself in your successes, dreams, and failures.
  4. Equal Care: Yeah I know it's easier to do for others... but, just as you would do for those with whom you belong, treat yourself with the same empathy, accountability, and compassion that you'd get them. You know how to do it for them. Do for you too.

Integration and Belief

  • Mixing Worlds: In self-belonging, you integrate your world with the world of those you belong with, believing in your own worthiness.
  • Believe Yourself Enough/Worthy: The outcome of successful self-belonging is a strong belief in your own worthiness.

Mixing your story with theirs:

  1. Directly: The narrative you tell yourself directly within your world.
  2. Indirectly: The narrative you receive indirectly from those with whom you belong.

Visual Elements

Arrows and Colors: Arrows and highlighted phrases indicate the flow and integration of these concepts, emphasizing the importance of blending internal and external narratives to foster self-belonging.

Summary

This graphic gives you a quick reference for the internal application of the F.O.C n' Belonging model to cultivate self-belonging. By treating yourself with the same care and compassion you show to others and integrating positive narratives from your belonging relationships, you can self-talk that helps you stay in the belief that you're enough and worthy.
