Our Foam Factory

Most of the foam used in Aquinos Sofas is produced in Gofoam - a company of the Aquinos group specialized in the production of foam. This company brings together a number of differentiating elements that make it highly competitive:

1. Gofoam does not produce foam with CFC's help and does not use materials such as "filler".
2. It has the ability to produce foams with different types of isocyanates (TDI and MDI).
3. It has OEKOTEX, IOS MAT certification and is in the process of CERTIPUR USA certification.
4. Offers foams with excellent physical properties and good air permeability.

Major market players supply all raw materials used in Gofoam, and the most advanced technologies available are applied, meeting the specific requirements of low emissions of chemical compounds - low value of VOC.

The foam and the sofas

The type and quality of the foam selected for a sofa, the integration into different areas of the product and the combination with other materials will be crucial in the development of the sofa’s final comfort. In general, the definition of quality of a foam quality is defined by two main variables:

• Density - refers to the mass (weight) of the foam per unit volume (kg/m3). Foams with a higher density value tend to have better physical behaviour and durability, hence the direct connection with the quality level.
• Resilience - This very important characteristic tells us the percentage of energy that the foam emits after suffering an impact or compression. Foams with a high resilience are more "elastic" allowing us to feel superior support comfort.

Different types of foam are used in the same sofa, having all of them different roles, depending the area where they are placed.

A sofa is usually classified by the comfort area of the product, in particular by the seat comfort, involving the user experience.

Commonly, the sofa areas with more need for body support, or in other words, in comfort zones – the application of more qualitative and high-density foams is implemented. In contrast, in the remaining areas less qualitative foams are used – often obtained through the reuse of foam cuts and wastes.

In short, when we talk about comfort, we talk about extremely personal aspects, so when it comes to choosing your sofa there are no rules, only recommendations that ensure it is ergonomically more comfortable and suitable for each person.
