“The bank has made it easier to buy groceries and get all the essentials one needs through adding eWallet@Till to our range of innovative products.?Instead of customers queuing twice, once at an ATM to withdraw funds from their eWallet and then at the store to pay for what they need, they now need only queue once at the till when they actually buy the goods or services.?This is the case for all stores that have our new touchscreen Speedpoints countrywide.”, said Zilindile Friedman, FNB Executive Retail Banking Head.

FNB is well on its way to enabling all its merchants with the newer, faster Android Speedpoint? devices, and is currently at 70% coverage of its wide merchant network.?100% coverage across all the bank’s network is something the bank is working to complete in the upcoming months, said Siboniso Mdluli, FNB’s Chief Operations Officer.

?

“We are well on our way to ensuring that all our merchants throughout the country are enabled such that customers can find yet another way to pay using only their phones, should they find themselves without their cards or cash at a till”, said Mdluli.

“If one considers that our merchant network is made up of businesses in a variety of industries including retailers, hardware stores as well as restaurants to mention only a few, you can clearly see that eWallet@Till opens up a whole new world of convenient shopping for both FNB and non-FNB customers,” Mdluli added.

According to Ms Friedman, “by allowing every local cellphone number to be used as a virtual wallet through eWallet, the bank is expanding the eWallet ecosystem to help enhance the customer experience.?eWallet sends are now well over E 2 billion annually, with many beneficiaries being low income earners and non-banked Emaswati.?This is a natural progression and there is scope to do continue expanding these capabilities.?This is in many ways, a testament of FNB’s commitment to providing real help and solutions that are easy to understand and ?use in ?multiple channels,” ?

?
