Fnatic ONIC Philippines wins M6 World Championship

Fnatic ONIC Philippines won the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang M6 World Championship title, defeating Indonesia's Team Liquid ID 4-1 in the grand finals on December 15 in Kuala Lumpur. Their victory marked the Philippines' fifth consecutive Mobile Legends world championship win. The victory earned the team $320,000 from the $1 million prize pool.

The grand finals of M6 World Championship between Fnatic ONIC PH and Team Liquid Indonesia recorded 4.13 million peak viewers, making it the third-most popular M series event for Mobile Legends. While it did not break records for peak concurrent viewership, it became the most-watched MLBB World Championship, with 85.6 million total hours watched. Indonesian fans contributed significantly to the viewership, with a peak of 2.35 million concurrent viewers during the grand finals, while Filipino audiences also showed strong support, especially on TikTok, where the platform set a record with 1.35 million peak viewers for an esports broadcast. Thai gamers demonstrated a diverse interest in video games with the top 2 searches being Wuthering Waves and Anime Vanguards. Other popular searches included Anime Last Stand and Sprunki, indicating a continued interest in music, animation roleplaying, and strategic games. China's Esports Industry grew 4.6% YoY in 2024?

China's esports industry returned to growth in 2024 according to a new report from China's Audio-Video and Digital Publishing Association (CADPA) and its Game Publishing Committee (GPC) that was published on December 11 at the China Esports Industry Conference. The report states that China's total esports industry revenue was RMB 27.6 billion ($3.8 billion) in 2024, up 4.62% YoY. Revenue from esports live broadcasting accounted for 80.84% of revenue or $3.07 billion. Esports event revenue accounted for 8.75% ($332 million), esports club revenue was 6.37% ($242 million), and other revenue accounted for 4.04% ($153 million).??

The number of esports gamers remained stable at 490 million, up 0.42% YoY. A total of 124 professional esports tournaments were held in 2024, with 58% of them conducted offline, 32% held in a hybrid format, and 10% online only. Shanghai, Chengdu, Huangzhou and Beijing were the top cities for esports tournaments. China has 195 professional esports clubs with the majority based in Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou.??
