Malaysia's NFP Traces Stolen Funds in 30 Minutes
Bank Negara Malaysia’s Deputy Finance Minister, Lim Hui Ying,? discusses how Malaysia’s newly launched National Fraud Portal (NFP) accelerates fraud detection in this article for Fintech News Malaysia. Since its launch, the NFP has significantly reduced the time required to trace stolen funds to just 30 minutes on average and improved the detection of mule accounts thanks to enhanced automation and real-time data sharing among financial institutions.??
The National Fraud Portal was developed by Bank Negara Malaysia and PayNet (Payments Network Malaysia), with FNA supporting the NFP with fraud analytics such as the FNA Money Trails solutions. This new capability enables banks to track funds across the banking system in real-time, quickly flag suspect transactions and earmark stolen funds for recovery, and identify mule accounts.
