FMK Team Member - Patrick Kucinski, General Manager at Bluefin Grill & Bar
Meet Patrick Kucinski, General Manager at Bluefin Grill & Bar.
If you’ve dined at Bluefin, chances are you’ve met, FMK’s resident Alaskan, Patrick Kucinski. “I’ve been there since Bluefin’s beginning. I think I was one of the first team members hired,” Patrick explained of the seafood restaurant that opened its doors on Brownwood’s Paddock Square in 2018.
Family and Florida sunshine brought the industry veteran to The Villages area. “The cold Alaska winters became harsh, and I missed my beloved parents and family. It was time to move forward to the next chapter in life and I chose Florida,” shared Patrick.
His career in hospitality began over a decade ago. “My first job was at a Greek & Italian restaurant in Alaska. I will never forget the great amount of knowledge and experience I had working for Spiro,” a culinary mentor Patrick affectionately calls, “A Greek version of Gordon Ramsay.”
“Spiro was a great culinary mentor in my life,” said Patrick. “I only wish he were here to see what I have accomplished.”
After soaking up some sunshine in Florida, Patrick found himself ready for a new culinary journey: Enter FMK. “I thought I knew a substantial amount of restaurant etiquette, until I met the administrators of FMK. Wow … did I meet an enormous amount of brilliant and experienced individuals. I knew right then and there, this company was the right fit for what I was trying to accomplish in my career. I knew I would be able to encounter more opportunities and advance my skills.”
Having found the right fit for the next chapter of his career, Patrick dug in and worked hard, climbing the ranks from server to management. He attributes much of his success to the support of his team and administration. “The atmosphere at FMK is incredibly different. The quality, standards, and respect that this company has for their employees is more than I have ever seen in the restaurant business,” stated Patrick. “My fellow administrators have not only been accommodating, but have also given me challenges to master, which have ultimately helped me come into my own.”
Now at the apex of his career, Patrick has set new goals. “I want to build new visions with FMK and continue to succeed and improve with this company.”
The driven general manager stated his favorite thing about his job is, “Having passion for what I do.” Another aspect Patrick shared his appreciation for is the culture FMK has created. “The FMK family has a stronger mission and strategy then the norm. Their quality, strive for care and customer service says it all.”
A highlight in his career thus far is fostering a sense of community with his guests. “FMK cares and builds relationships with all The Villages organizations and guests. We show our hospitality the minute a guest walks through our doors. We celebrate any success or occasion they might engage that night. From the little or big gestures that might happen in your life, FMK is here to make that special event memorable,” shared Patrick. “A guest may forget a meal, but they will NEVER forget how you made them feel. That’s a cherished opportunity to build a personal bond.”
Want to strike up a conversation with Patrick on your next visit? The feeling is mutual. “Guest satisfaction and feedback are very important to me,” voiced Patrick. “Improving our guests’ experience allows our team to understand and better tailor their needs.”
