Infineon’s Lead Times Stable

Infineon's lead times remain stable, with shortages mainly affecting obsolete parts. Infineon's AI, data center, and server clients are securing supplies of integrated circuits like BSC 026, 074, 430, TDA series, and IR3 series. Other industries and products see stable supply. Infineon is actively expanding its product line, recently partnering with MediaTek and Cooler Master to enhance smart mobile solutions and high-performance current sensors.

Broadcom AI Product Demand Soars

Driven by the increasing demand for AI, Broadcom is experiencing a surge in demand for its AI-related products, such as the BCM56980 and BCM5699 series. This has led to a supply shortage for the BCM56990 series. The demand for PCIe Switch 5.0 remains steady, despite a price decrease. Broadcom's shift towards AI products may extend lead times for non-AI applications. Additionally, lead times for the SS27 and SS29 series now exceed one year.

Onsemi Expands Operations

Last week, Onsemi announced an agreement with Taiwan's Foxconn Group to be the primary supplier of next-generation main drive inverters for Foxconn's Scalable System Platform (SSP). This SiC-based power box solution ranges from high to low-power main drive inverters and is compatible with all vehicle categories. Additionally, Onsemi completed the acquisition of SWIR VisionSystems in early July, combining silicon-based CMOS sensors with COD technology to offer highly integrated SWIR sensors at lower costs and higher yields.

NXP Adjusts Product Prices Amid Inventory Reduction

With market inventory depleting and unmet expectations, NXP has adjusted prices for a select few high-performance products. Overall demand remains weak, primarily focused on inventory reduction, with most needs in the automotive sector, which still faces oversupply. MCU and MPU delivery times range from 13 to 23 weeks, depending on demand levels. NXP encourages customers to transition from older MCU series to newer products.

Samsung Increases High-Capacity SSD Production

Reports indicate that demand for high-capacity storage products outpaces demand for lower capacities. Consequently, Samsung is prioritizing the production of 7.68TB and above SSDs. Since July, prices for Samsung's memory products, especially SSDs, have risen by 30%. Samsung is also catching up with Micron, having begun shipments of 128G Monodie memory modules, which are incompatible with older 3DS technology. This may lead to the phasing out of 3DS technology by mid-2025.

Intel Mobile CPUs Face Supply Challenges

Intel's N200 and N300 mobile CPUs are experiencing supply constraints, leading to limited product allocation next month, with some customers potentially facing shortages. Following significant losses, Intel has quietly halted several European investment plans. Intel announced the suspension of its investments in France due to significant economic and market changes since 2022. Moreover, Intel's plan to build a chip factory in Italy is unlikely to materialize soon, impacting Europe's microchip ambitions.

Renesas Inventory Improves

Renesas continues to see limited overall demand, primarily in the industrial control and automotive sectors, with minimal demand for consumer products. Lead times for MCUs have shortened, while inventory for automotive products like ISL and HD64 series has increased, causing price fluctuations. Renesas' supply shortages have been resolved, and inventory is gradually being absorbed. Automotive product demand is expected to grow slowly throughout the year.

Micron Reduces Automotive Chip Production

Micron is reportedly cutting production of automotive-grade LPDDR4X and LPDDR5X chips, potentially affecting customer demand. Last week, Micron introduced the Micron 9550 NVMe SSD, the world's fastest data center SSD, leading in AI workload performance and energy efficiency. The 9550 SSD has received strong support from major server chip manufacturers, including Nvidia, AMD, and Intel, emphasizing its robust storage capabilities for its AI chips.
