Relative Shortage of DDR5 Supply

So far, there is a relative shortage of DDR5 supply and pricing has increased by roughly 20%. Customers who are seeking supplies of DDR5 RDIMMs are receiving very low inventory allocations. Support for DDR5 128GB RDIMMs supply will be limited until mid-July. For lead time orders, the average lead time is approximately one month.

NXP's Lead Times Are Still?Unstable

Lead times for the FSxxx and MCF series of automotive grade MCUs are slightly better but still take at least 52 weeks. The supply of the S9x series is also limited and market pricing has increased. Also, lead times for the LPC series have improved.

MCIMxx's lead times are around 70 weeks, but still unstable. Sxxx's lead times have been up to at least 52 weeks. In the FS32 series, stock demand for FS32K146HFT0VLHT is increasing.

Allocation of MPN MKE18F512VLL16 has been unstable as lead times continue to be pushed back. This MPN as well as other supplies directly from the manufacturer are seeing lead times extended.

China's Investigation of Micron Will Have Certain Effects

China's investigation of Micron could have both short- and long-term effects on supply and demand. In the long term, Micron could lose its competitive edge in the memory market as customers look for substitutes from other brands. In the short term, however, forecasts indicate a small spike in memory demand. In addition, distributors were notified that they will not accept lower prices for DRAM and NAND Flash from May 1, indicating that current price levels are as low as they can go.




High Demand for Electric Vehicles, Renesas MCU Production Expansion by 10%

According to the report, due to the popularity of EVs and the surge in demand for MCUs, Renesas plans to invest about 48 billion yen to introduce manufacturing equipment in three factories in Japan, aiming to increase MCU production capacity by 10% by 2026.

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan will provide subsidies for related investments to strengthen semiconductor production. And they will provide 15.9 billion yen in subsidies for Renesas' investments in the three plants. Renesas rose 0.27% to close at 2,046.5 yen on the 17th, a new record high in the past 14 years and 8 months (since Oct. 1, 2008).

Onsemi?Is Considering Expanding Production of Silicon Carbide Chips

Onsemi is considering investing $2 billion to boost production of silicon carbide chips widely used to help expand the range of electric vehicles, executives said on 5.16. Accordingly, Onsemi is considering expansion in the United States, the Czech Republic or South Korea. At a financial analyst day on Thursday, executives said they aim to capture 40 percent of the silicon carbide automotive chip market by 2027. The company forecasts that growth in this and other areas will help its revenue grow at a compound annual growth rate of 10 to 12 percent, with sales expanding from $8.3 billion in 2022 to a median of $13.9 billion in 2027. Over the same period, Onsemi expects free cash flow to expand from $1.6 billion in 2022 to $3.5 billion to $4 billion in 2027.
