Bombardier , a global leader in the aviation industry, manufactures innovative jets and refurbishes old ones. Their headquarters, located in Wichita, KS, is comprised of multiple buildings. For seamless communication between teams and smooth operation, reliable cellular connectivity is a must.
THE PROBLEM
Network Challenges Spark Operational Turbulence
When Bombardier's Passive DAS (aka a cell phone signal booster system) stopped working, their cellular coverage took a serious hit. With most of their buildings made of metal and brick, cellular signals struggle to reach indoors. Poor connectivity and dead spots created significant obstacles.
Internal team coordination became increasingly difficult, delaying critical updates and slowing response times. Externally, unreliable signal meant missed or dropped calls with clients, hindering trust and satisfaction. Even workflow slowed down, impacting project timelines. Recognizing the need for a reliable and robust multi-carrier solution, Bombardier turned to Bolton Install Pros for help.
THE SOLUTION

Cel-Fi QUATRA 4000c Hybrid DAS
Bombardier expressed the need for a solution that would improve AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon cellular coverage across three different multi-story buildings. To ensure we recommended the best solution, our team visited their headquarters to conduct a comprehensive site survey. We measured signal strength both inside and outside to fully assess the signal environment and identify potential installation challenges.
Based on the results we recommended and designed a custom Cel-Fi QUATRA 4000c Hybrid DAS, which far exceeds the capabilities of their previous setup. This system uses a Network Unit to amplify cellular signals and Coverage Units that allow easy scalability. Leveraging the power of fiber optic and ethernet cables, the system supports long-distance cable runs with minimal signal degradation, ensuring robust coverage across the corporate campus.
Before installation, Bombardier took proactive steps and ran fiber optic cables between all the desired buildings to support the new system. We then deployed 2 Master Units with 3 donor antennas each, 10 Coverage Units, and 38 strategically placed low-profile dome antennas to ensure seamless coverage across 98,000 sq ft.
Results
Enhanced signal strength enabled teams to collaborate effortlessly and maintain momentum on critical projects. Communication with clients became seamless, strengthening relationships and reinforcing Bombardier's commitment to excellence.
More than just a solution to their previous challenges, the new system set a higher standard for connectivity, equipping Bombardier with the reliability they need to power their operations for years to come.
