FLYING ETIQUETTE TIPS
Arrive at the airport early enough. Have your boarding pass and ID out and ready when it is your turn for airport security. Pull out your computer, cell phone, medications.
Place your bag vertically rather than horizontally in the overhead bin. Only put one carry-on bag in the container, the other one under the seat in front of you. Offer to help someone putting theirs up there if you can. It is kindness and could help the boarding process. Please try not to hit people with your oversized bag as you go to your seat.
Let the passenger in the middle seat use the armrests and keep your body that means legs also within the width of your seat. Watch the body language of the person next to you, as to whether they might want to engage in conversation. Remember, use your inside voice.
Make sure to check behind you before you recline if you must, so their drink does not end up on their lap. While I agree with having a cocktail before a flight, do not overindulge. The Aerospace Medical Association says because of the lower level of oxygen in your blood while flying will dehydrate you, couple that with alcohol, adds to more dehydration.
Please wait until the plane stops before jumping up. According to Expedia Airlines, "Touching down has the same effect as the old school bell," "chaos ensues as everyone tries to be the first through the door."
If you can help someone get their bag while reaching for yours, be kind and offer. Departing the plane, "thank you" to the flight attendants, is always appreciated. Last and most importantly, there are no government regulations that mandate regular cleaning, so I carry germicidal wipes when traveling and wipe the armrests, the little knob to open the tray table, lower it, and wipe that also. Tray tables rarely get wiped down, and seat pockets the same. Don't forget your hands with a clean wipe.
