Flyability Launch Asset Management Software Extension

Navigating the complexities of raw drone data without an effective management solution can make it difficult to use the information effectively. This often leads to imprecise reporting, indecisive actions, and, ultimately, sub-optimal maintenance efforts.

Building upon the groundwork laid by Inspector 4, Inspector 5’s Asset Management Extension enhances asset management by integrating data from numerous flights into a holistic visualisation of your asset.

This enhanced software delivers precise insights into the conditions within your assets, enabling your team to swiftly pinpoint and address issues in the most effective locations. In this article, we delve into the capabilities of the Asset Management Extension, illustrating its potential to transform operations with the Elios 3 drone.

Delivering Clear Insights to Asset Managers

Asset managers rely on detailed inspection data to gauge the aging process of their assets, guiding decisions on preventive maintenance or necessary repairs. It’s crucial for inspectors and their companies to present a detailed overview of these assets. Currently, this is achieved through organising data by inspection dates and presenting it as a digital twin. Such a digital representation ensures the data is accessible, easily navigable, and allows for precise focus on specific areas within the asset and its broader operational context.

However, asset managers aren’t the only beneficiaries of this structured data approach. Maintenance teams or personnel tasked with investigating defects also find immense value in accessing a digital twin that aggregates the asset’s information. This comprehensive view supports efficient planning for access, procurement of parts, or cost and labour estimates.

In today’s digitised environment, the adoption of digital twinning and asset management technologies is becoming a norm in various industries.

Consequently, inspection tools must evolve to align with modern asset management perspectives. For instance, during inspections, drones categorise data by flight segments, a method utilised by Flyability’s Elios 3 until recently. With the new Asset Management Extension for Cockpit and Inspector, Flyability are enhancing how Elios 3 data is organised, aiming to surpass the evolving expectations of contemporary asset managers.

Software Features

Enhancing the utility of previous asset mappings captured by Elios 3, the Asset Management Extension seamlessly integrates fresh data with existing datasets in real-time. This fusion provides a unified snapshot of your asset information within a single frame of reference, offering an enriched, all-encompassing view.

Before, attaining a holistic overview of your asset was out of reach, as each flight’s data had to be assessed separately.

Now, during multi-flight inspections, the Live Map widget presents captured maps and points of interest (POIs) in a clear, accessible manner. This feature acts as a guide for pilots, enabling them to quickly gauge the progress of their project. This means operators can leave the site with the assurance that they have gathered a complete dataset.

This streamlines the pilot’s workflow within Inspector 5, enabling the categorisation of various classes directly in the software. As illustrated in the diagram below, assets can now be organised into their distinct files within the Asset Management Software, simplifying data management and accessibility.

The Asset Management Extension organises inspection data in a hierarchical, pyramid-like structure to simplify access and enhance the clarity of asset records. At the broadest level, within a single workspace, you can manage multiple assets. Each asset then encompasses a series of inspections accumulated over its lifecycle, further refining the record-keeping process.

Under each inspection, you’ll find a model composed of multiple flights conducted throughout the operation. These flights are stored distinctly but are interconnected within the model, allowing for a detailed view of the asset. The inspector has the flexibility to toggle individual flights on or off, enabling them to scrutinise specific flights in isolation.

This architecture ensures a comprehensive overview of the asset’s condition over time is maintained in a consolidated manner. It eliminates the need to sift through multiple files by presenting a unified view of the asset’s history, including all inspections and flights, in a single, intuitive framework.

All the flight videos from an inspection are available in the same project, organised on one timeline. This setup makes it easy to review everything at once. Flights are clearly marked, so inspectors can quickly find, edit, or remove parts of the video they don’t need, simplifying the process of handling inspection videos.

Inspection-Based Reporting

Discovering missing data upon returning to the office after an inspection can be extremely frustrating. The Asset Management extension not only offers the benefits outlined previously but also significantly improves the pilot’s experience by continuously showing previously created maps and points of interest (POIs) across different flights during an inspection. This feature enables pilots to monitor the thoroughness of their work, ensuring they always depart from the site with a comprehensive data collection.

Once you’ve finished analysing, you can gather data from several flights into one report with just a few clicks. This process quickly provides a current and precise overview of the asset, which can be easily shared. This streamlines the planning of maintenance and aids in making informed decisions.

Looking ahead, the?Asset Management Extension?will be enhanced to allow users to selectively access prior POIs along with the historical map. This will enable pilots to revisit specific areas of interest and conduct repeated inspections over time, ensuring consistent monitoring and assessment of critical asset conditions.
