Eagles like to fly high, wide spread wings, slow motion, circling around, powerful view over the whole landscape. Yet, spotting the target, diving superfast, catching what’s essential to their survival. Actually they don’t remember the times, when they were a little older than just nestlings, and their parents kept feeding them by bringing food to their nest. And then, one day and completely out of sudden, those which felt safe, nourished and taken care of, were thrown away from a highly placed nest somewhere on top of the rocky mountain, completely shocked with what was happening and pretty sure they were going to die. The dangerous soil growing bigger and then, in the utmost panic realization of upcoming end, they spread their wings, wide open, and … found themselves flying!
This beautiful metaphor was shared in a conference that I am attending now and which speaks about human transformation and potential. I thought about our business life. When we are about to stand up, show up, take a step, change something dramatically and we… just struggle. Can’t do it. Resist to dare. To be bold. Give it a try. We don’t believe in ourselves. We hear all our saboteurs’ voices of why we can’t.
We just so often forget, that we have to fly just because we can’t. We can’t fail, as we are created to go on. To learn. To try and find out that we actually can. That all we need is inside us. We just need to open our wings and trust that up-drafts of experience, human creativity and undiscovered own potential will allow us to jump into the challenge, figure out our ways, learn experientialy, then learn consciously, practice and become proficient in all what truly matters to us!

3 年Aleksandra, more than the exquisite fit of the eagle's metaphor as it applies to all of us and the people we work with, are your words, "We just so often forget, that we have to fly just because we can't." Bold words. True words. And we as leaders are tasked to make flying possible for our people. As you know from your Blanchard Channel Partner experience, skill, and applied knowledge, we support the flight of our people by increasing their competence, confidence, and commitment levels. It's our job as leaders to create the conditions that allow our people to fly into their potential and wind the success they want. As you so rightly say, we as leaders give to our people what they need to open their wings and "jump into the challenge," and "learn consciously, practice and become proficient," in all our workers need to achieve the meaning that matters most to them. Bold, true words for all leaders looking to blame less and provide more, to bring about the success of their people and teams. As you say . . ." so often we forget, that we have to fly just because we can't." This is the mantra for today's leaders. Hey leaders . . . are you listening here?
