Software procurement is growing at a CAGR of 10.2% and the global spend on software will grow from US$7.41 billion to US$12.04 billion in the next five years. These figures are not surprising when you read insights from the likes of Gartner that over 70% of SMBs are planning to increase tech spend to drive operational efficiency.
One important factor to consider when looking to procure software is whether to go down the customisation route, or to seek configurable solutions. It’s an important decision - the differences between the two avenues are significant and can have downstream impacts.
Naturally, Flux is an advocate for configurability. But this isn’t arbitrary. Every day we hear stories from energy companies locked into contracts with vendors of legacy software that have become an enormous strain on resources and are no longer fit for purpose.
