Flutter: We can also do mobile app development!

At the annual VIALUTIONS Summer Camp, we always test new technologies that could fit into our tech stack. This year, that was Flutter.

Why Flutter?

There are various mobile frameworks on the market that enable developers to realize mobile apps. There are also frameworks that promise to create a unified solution across platforms (essentially Android and iOS).

As a software development company with a tech stack based primarily on Microsoft technologies, the obvious choice for app development would actually be to use .NET MAUI. The problem, however, is that the Microsoft framework is not yet final, but is still in beta and also only designed for the upcoming .NET version. In addition, the underlying technology is now somewhat dusty and is only polished by MAUI.

It is therefore out of the question as a tool for us, as we want to offer our customers stable production solutions. This is not possible with a beta. Since we also want to offer our customers mobile app development in the future, we have therefore decided to test Flutter as a technology in detail.
