I was a swimmer growing up and parent to two elite female athletes (swimming and water polo). The smell of chlorine feels like home to me. In the years my girls were training, a circular exchange of damp towels, tank suits, homework plus bags and bags of food moved from backpack to car to house on the regular. I loved it.?

This week in Omaha, all chlorine bloodshot eyes are watching the US Trials and listening to Rowdy Gaines overly excited commentary. It’s electric to be there in person. The newcomer is a high school senior Torri Huske in the 1-Fly, breaking the 9 year US record of Dana Vollmer. You can’t work hard enough or train long enough. God must touch you with gifts to get to this level. I feel for each kid in the tank and the sacrifices they’ve made to get there. Relax through the pain and work the walls strong.
