Overcoming Obstacles: Cultivating Flowers in Challenging Times
“Reflecting on the intersections in my own life; the not knowing, the restlessness and discomfort, the choices I’ve made, and also finding confidence in the order of things, has brought the flowers around my own heart into bloom; daring me to allow, show and speak about my vulnerability to others. Over time I learned to trust the wisdom of my heart.”
In a world often plagued by division, conflict, and negativity, nurturing flowers around the heart can be challenging. Fear, anger, self-centeredness are common obstacles that hinder the growth of compassion and love.
There are various practices and techniques on how to navigate these obstacles and cultivate a heart full of flowers even in the face of adversity. They can help develop self-awareness , compassion and love. Here are a few examples: Mindfulness and Meditation (develop understanding of our inner experiences without non-judgmental awareness), Loving Kindness meditation (cultivate a sense of connection), Self-reflection and journaling (gaining more insight in strengths, challenges, and areas for growth), Compassionate communication (listening deeply and speaking honestly), Acts of kindness and service (expands sense of connection and contributes to the well-being of others), Cultivating gratitude (shifts focus towards the positive, fostering love), Self-Compassion Practice (growing kindness, understanding, acceptance towards ourselves).

1 年Margreeth, This spiritual summary is reflective of a woman I have followed for several years, Joan Borysenko. I read her reflections book, A Pocketful of Miracles, in which the spirit draws from wisdoms across cultures, beliefs, practices, and in a thematically organized manner. The addition I love in this piece you have written includes that of the age wisdom of youth, Malala and and Frank, and modern heroes that have inspiring qualities. This is so beautiful! It has planted new seeds around my heart for me to tend and care for and I love it! Margreeth, I feel your presence in the seeds I plant around my heart! I thank you so, so much! Love and kindness, Gail
