Whether you’re an organization wins scope of ELV (Extra Low Voltage)?project, or a project manager gets assigned an ELV project management, you’ll need a standard process to manage the flow of your new ELV projects.???
ELV covers all the modern technologies in constructing any residential or commercial building. ELV systems are increasingly becoming the must-have list of systems in each building such as data network, surveillance cameras, access control, IPTV, audio/video solutions and many more technology systems. ELV systems are part of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumping (MEP) scope of work, these ELV systems are classified for voltage level 50V or less.
The ELV projects were managed by electrical and mechanical engineers who are working in the contracting industry, they understand the process of the construction projects, but they lack the knowledge of IT systems, IP solutions, physical security systems and new technological systems. To minimize the knowledge gap between ICT engineers and ELV projects implementation process, this successful flowchart of ELV project management was developed.?
The Flowchart of ELV Project Management provides you in detail the potential implementation process flow of managing an ELV project, you’ll go through five phases of project management: pre-construction, planning, engineering, construction and closing.?
Here’s a brief on each phase:
Pre-Construction Phase
When an organization wins an ELV project, don’t jump immediately to planning or implementation of the project. First, you will need to assign a project manager and prepare all necessaries to establish a project site and to review the contractual obligations including required bonds, insurance policies, other contractual terms, and incurred costs before you begin the site works.?
Planning Phase
Starting the development of the project in more details to meet the project’s objectives. The project manager with his team must identify all the work to be done. Starting the project planning requires having all information about broader sense of the information on hand and requirements. Information on hand such as: contract, project documents, site conditions, assumptions, and estimates, to be able to develop different plans for the project, reviewing all inputs from information on hand and requirements are very important start for planning phase.
Engineering Phase
Engineering phase of an ELV project is meant by the submittals process of obtaining approvals for: 1) the ELV company as ELV subcontractor, 2) materials documents, material samples and quantities and 3) shop drawings. The objectives of the engineering phase are to ensure that properly specified materials, quantities, and designs are delivered and implemented by an appropriate ELV professional contractor. In general, the submittals are initiated by the ELV subcontractor to the main contractor who then presents them to the project engineer or a designated recipient with granting approvals. The engineering phase also covers the High-Level Design (HLD) and Low-Level Design (LLD) of the materials from the technology systems perspective to confirm a working solution of each system.

Construction Phase
The construction phase is the physical phase of delivering the technical solutions of all ELV systems by installing, setting up, configuring, integrating, and testing. Typically, the project split into smaller phases to achieve bigger milestones. The construction phase has five main processes: Procurement, Site Management, Manage and Monitor Installation, Manage and Monitor Commissioning, Administration.
Hand-Over Phase
Hand-over or closing phase is the final phase of the ELV project. It starts when the technical engineers confirm that the commissioning phase is completed and ELV systems are ready for operations. Hand-Over covers technical tasks and administration tasks, the technical tasks include testing phase of the project with the engineer and the client and providing training to hand over the systems management. Some activities require re-commissioning to fine tune client needs. Providing Operations & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, warranty certificate and licenses documents are part of technical tasks as well as providing the final As Built drawings. The administration tasks include closing the subcontracts agreement, demobilization, and final project billing.
Lessons Learned
Providing lessons learned report at the end which can be learned from the project and applied to other projects. Usually, it covers mistakes that could be avoided in the future, successful strategies that might be adopted in the future and procedures or resources that could be improved. Questions like, what went wrong/right, why it went wrong/right. Seriousness, i.e., is it worth avoiding/replicating in the future, if so, how can this be done.

2 个月Excellent visualization of the ELV project management process! The flowchart effectively breaks down the complex steps involved, making it easier to understand and navigate. I particularly appreciate the clarity and organization of the diagram. Well done! Would love to see more visual representations of complex processes like this. Great share
Also would appreciate a copy. I specialize in Service Dept and RMR and can send you mine.?
