When the path we are on is the path we never knew we were always meant to take.
It’s funny, the way that when we set off on a journey thinking that we are headed in a particular direction, it turns out the universe has something completely unexpected in store for us. I came to coaching at a point in my life when I was looking for change. What I was doing was no longer in alignment for me, although I didn’t know that’s what it was at the time – I just knew that things couldn’t stay the way they were.
Once I had embraced the possibility of change though, it all started happening very quickly. As I prepared to launch my coaching business, life took another turn and we were suddenly preparing to relocate to the other side of the world. This in itself paved the way for the next part of my journey, a period where I needed to rediscover myself, who I wanted to be in this new country, this new life, and how I wanted to reflect these values in my business.
When I re-launched my coaching business last year I was still holding on to certain beliefs about what it should look like, and how it should be – beliefs that were not fully aligned to my new life, and again, that I didn’t realise at the time. I subconsciously fought against who I was becoming to try and fit into the box I thought I needed to be in. But once again, the flow of the universe gently pushed me forward as I encountered hiccups and waypoints.

What I discovered was that it’s okay to pivot. That sometimes we think we are seeking one thing, but we end up receiving something different. As we moved into 2020 I started to trust that the universe was on my side and that everything I had been through, and was going through, was bringing me closer to exactly where I needed to be.
I have continued to evolve in my journey, to grow, to connect with my mission and my purpose, to start living in alignment, and things have finally started to flow more freely. Opportunity has come knocking in unexpected forms: collaborations, friendships, new directions. I once heard it said that what is for you shall not pass you. This mantra sticks with me, and I have surrendered myself to it, and as a result I am more confident that with every step that I take I am one step closer to living intentionally and authentically.
If there is one lesson that I can invite you to draw from this process, it would be that the twists and turns on our journey are not usually the ones we anticipate, but if we can let go, lean in and trust the universe enough to go with the flow and enjoy the ride, we may just discover that the journey we are on is the path we never knew we were always meant to take. What is for you shall not pass you. Keep moving forward.
