Five Neuroprotective Mechanisms of CBD
Did you know that natural molecules and mixtures are more likely to participate synergistically when they affect more than a single biochemical pathway?
CBD exerts its neuroprotective effects through at least five different molecular mechanisms.
1). Adenosine receptor subtype 2A
2). HT1A - Serotonin receptor subtype 1A
3). GPR-55 G protein-coupled receptor 55
4). TRPV-1; a ligand-gated ion channel: And lastly ...
5). A nuclear factor, known as PPAR-gamma
The authors state: "In conclusion, CBD, through multi-target mechanisms, represents a valid therapeutic tool for the management of epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease."
How Adaptogen Herbs Modulate JNK1 to Affect Stress, Inflammation, and Cellular Health
Adaptogens are plants that increase tolerance to the effects of physical or mental stress and enhance endurance and performance.
One of many pathways that adaptogens influence is the Stress-Activated c-Jun N-terminal Protein Kinase 1: aka JNK1. This pathway is involved in the cellular stress response It has a role in regulating apoptosis (cell death), inflammation, and metabolic processes.
Dysregulation of JNK1 can lead to increased cellular damage, inflammation, and impaired cell survival mechanisms.
Topical CBD Protects Skin Cells from Damaging UV Radiation - Research Review
In this animal study, topical CBD protected skin exposed to damaging UVA and UVB radiation. Topical CBD improved the lipid profile of skin cells including keratinocytes, and also improved skin barrier status.

Research Review: Antioxidant Effects of CBD in the Hearts of Mice
The authors of this study showed that CBD treatment in mice markedly improves heart function, reduces oxidative and cardiac muscle cell death, and increases the function of mitochondria in the heart muscle.

Mitochondria produce energy for the cells. Improved mitochondrial function benefits health by increasing energy production, and assists in antioxidant protection by reducing oxidative stress.
The authors in this study state that CBD treatment in the mice “markedly improved heart function, reduced oxidative and cardiac muscle cell death”, and “increased the function of mitochondria in the heart”.
Flow States - Mirror Neurons - Alter Egos - and the Unfettered Mind
In this video, professional storyteller Gregory Frye and I discuss flow states, and how they might be more easily accessed to enhance performance.
We also discuss the concept of mirror neurons in empathy, and how these might be involved in flow states, and the unfettering of our mind during performance-oriented tasks.

Wave Maker in the Sea of Tranquility
1 年Flow, so nicely tied together, like a good rug! The abiding focus of flow is non-reactive-effects. As well as how these effects compare to those produced by movement healing. Dr. Jake F. Felice's understanding shows that to respond out of nothingness is most affable & leaves no residue. When action comes out of nothing it is so total its very totality is a circle: complete & finished. As a most famous dude (Bruce Lee) once circulated it, "Don't fear failure. Not failure, but low aim is the crime. In great attempts it is glorious even to fail." Life need not be practiced; life is to be lived. Life is not a drama -- you need not prepare; you need simply to abide. Like love, it come as it comes, & is spontaneous. Otherwise, you'll keep following directions until pretty soon you're passed it & life won't even be fun while it lasted ~~~Natalie G. ??
