Cannabis Relieves Pain for Women with Endometriosis - Australian Study

Here’s a recent study with insights into the potential of cannabis for women struggling with endometriosis.

?? Endometriosis happens when tissue that lines the inside of the uterus grows elsewhere in the body, causing pain usually during a woman's period.

?? Unfortunately, many conventional treatments have serious side effects and often fall short in providing adequate relief.

This study, conducted by scientists at Western Sydney University and the University of Melbourne, sheds light on how cannabis can help manage the challenge of endometriosis.

Source: Sinclair J, Collett L, Abbott J, Pate DW, Sarris J, Armour M. Effects of cannabis ingestion on endometriosis-associated pelvic pain and related symptoms. PLoS One. 2021 Oct 26;16(10):e0258940. doi: 10.1371/journal.pone.0258940. PMID: 34699540; PMCID: PMC8547625.

Over a span from April 2017 to February 2018, scientists documented over 16,193 instances where cannabis was used to treat cramps, pelvic pain, and gastrointestinal pain.

??In addition to the discomfort, cannabis use also improved mood and libido. ?? Interestingly inhaled cannabis, which is faster acting, had higher efficacy for pain, while oral use was superior for mood and gastrointestinal symptoms.

The Early History of Flow States

One early description of flow comes from a 16th-century Zen monk named Takuan Soho, who mentored the famous swordsman Miyamoto Musashi.

His work, ‘The Unfettered Mind’ instructs swordsmen on the intersection of flow states and martial arts.

?? Takuan advises Samurai how to achieve effortless concentration combined with action. “In terms of your own martial art, when you first notice the sword that is moving to strike you, if you think of meeting that sword, just as it is, your mind will stop at the sword in just that position, your movements will be undone and you will be cut down by your opponent.”

“This is what stopping means.”

“Although if you see the sword that moves to strike you, if your mind is not detained by it, and you meet the rhythm of the advancing sword; if you do not think of striking your opponent, and no thoughts or judgments remain; if the instant you see the swinging sword, your mind is not the least bit detained, and you move straight in and wrench the sword away from him; the sword that was going to cut you down will become your own, and, contrarily will be the sword that cuts down your opponent.”

?? Did you notice how the flow state involves movement? The lack of halting and hesitation brings victory?

Though it’s becoming rare in our modern world, flow is extremely productive and enjoyable.

Flow offers business leaders and founders a catalyzing state to elevate creativity, decision-making, and well-being.

Reclaiming of flow states, can disrupt old patterns and direct us back to health and wholeness.

?? Where do you find flow in your life?

?? How more flow could impact your world for the better?

We are All Riders of Waves - At Least Metaphorically

One of my favorite experiences in surfing occurs when I feel the glide on glassy waves.

?? How do you consciously ride the various waves that occur throughout your life?

Despite the turbulence of the ocean, a shift happens and there is a sense of stillness where nothing needs to be done to maintain balance on the moving sea.

There is a feeling that I am not moving on the ocean, but it is moving through me while I remain still.

It is sublime, though only short-lived.

The Flow State Apprentice

I have dedicated untold hours of my life in search of this feeling.

Flow is an optimal blending of action and consciousness where we perform our best and feel our best.

Flow states are highly relevant for good work.

If we learn a little bit of science we can better influence our systems of motivation, learning, creativity, and flow.
