Cannabis in the 19th Century: Its Historical Significance in Women’s Herbal Medicine - Part 2
The conventional medical landscape often presents limited and unsatisfactory treatment options for women suffering from:
?? Endometriosis
?? Dysmenorrhea
?? Menopause
I'm fascinated by the detail captured in the 19th-century medical writings on cannabis, especially regarding its application to women's health.
.
These historical documents, including the works of physicians like O’Shaughnessy, Maguire, Christison, Grigor, Wright, Silver, and the comprehensive Indian Hemp Drugs Commission Report mandated by the British parliament, offer insights.
In the language of their time, these medical pioneers provided exhaustive evidence of cannabis's safety, efficacy, and broad tolerability supporting its use in the treatment of dysmenorrhea, endometriosis, and menopausal symptoms among women.
Their dedication to specifying the medicinal benefits of cannabis supports the potential of integrating traditional wisdom with contemporary healthcare practices.
?? The historical record underscores the significance of revisiting and integrating cannabis research into modern medical applications, particularly in women’s health.
It's a reminder of the vast potential that natural therapies hold, waiting to be harnessed in our ongoing quest to improve healthcare outcomes.

Eating THC Edibles with Fats Doubles Absorption
A four-way, crossover investigation sponsored and supported by MedReleaf?, a subsidiary of Aurora Cannabis Inc. revealed significant findings about THC absorption.
?? The research shows that consuming THC capsules with a high-fat meal from eggs, milk, and butter considerably more than doubled the systemic bioavailability of THC and its primary metabolite, 11-hydroxy-THC.
?? The study notes that women exhibited a notably higher peak plasma concentration than men when ingesting 5 mg THC without food in a fasted state, indicating enhanced systemic bioavailability.
Flow States and Optimal Experience
Have you ever been completely immersed in action, where the moment feels seamlessly aligned with purpose?
This state of focus and engagement, known as a flow state, is often referred to as being "in the zone." It's where productivity meets a deep sense of enjoyment and fulfillment.
Find out how flow consists of an intricate dance between skill and challenge, which when coupled with the right feedback mechanisms enables peak performance and a profound sense of satisfaction.
In this video, I explore psychological aspects and neurobiological mechanisms that underlie this optimal state of being.
Achieving flow can transform your personal growth and professional accomplishments.

Could the Secret to Youthful Skin Lie Within the ECS?
Recent research reveals a link between our skin's aging process and a specific component known as the CB1 receptor.
领英推荐
Found within the layers of our skin, this receptor plays a pivotal role in maintaining our skin's homeostasis.
Studies on mice indicate that a deficiency in the CB1 receptor can significantly accelerate the aging of the skin.
This acceleration is attributed to an increase in ROS (Reactive Oxygen Species), a decrease in our skin's natural antioxidant defenses, and an elevation in a pro-inflammatory environment.
Essentially, when the CB1 receptor is not present in sufficient quantities, the skin in these mice struggled to fend off the natural aging process, leading to earlier signs of aging.
Why is this finding exciting? It opens up new avenues for research into natural therapies, including cannabis-derived products, which interact with the ECS, potentially offering a natural, holistic approach to preventing skin aging.
A separate study described dose-dependent protective effects of CBD on UV-exposed melanocytes and keratinocytes.
Because CBD in this study did not exhibit absorption in the UVB spectra, its protective effect was thought to be due to the scavenging of reactive oxygen species (ROS) rather than the blocking of UV exposure.
If the ECS protects skin from ultraviolet (UV) radiation, could topical cannabinoids offer anti-aging protection after UV sun exposure?
