the Flour Mill of Summer Hill apartments
Guy Wilkinson
Hi, I'm Guy. I photograph spaces and places. Sydney architectural + design photographer.
Hello, thanks for scrolling all the way to the bottom of the page! These are a selection of photos I took of the Summer Hill Flour Mill apartment development or the Flour Mill of Summer Hill as it is being marketed. The first two stages are just about complete but there is a second set of silos to be converted as well as a great warehouse, a public square to complete and a couple more new buildings to be built.
These initial buildings were designed by a fine bunch of folks from HASSELL studio for EG developments and the Daiwa House Group and built by Watpac.
As always there are some compromises along the way (some more plants please!) but these are some really quality apartments, medium density with well thought out aspects, and so much beautiful in situ concrete and the nice use of brick and Woodform claddings. I imagine these apartments (assuming the rest of the development is completed well) will be a great investment financially as well as for quality of life. We can't all live in free standing houses, so this type of quality development, for me, is the way forward for Sydney.
