Resilience Report for Sanibel and Captiva

Sanibel and Captiva were hit hard by Hurricane Ian in 2022, leading to the creation of SanCap Resilience, a community-driven effort to restore the islands and prepare for future threats. In 2023, local efforts gathered resident feedback, focusing on rebuilding ecosystems, infrastructure, and a sense of community. By 2024, a follow-up survey of nearly 900 residents revealed progress but also ongoing concerns about recovery and climate resilience.
