Flooding

Dear readers,
The experience of spending the last 48 hours in a flood zone (southern Germany) appears to have washed away even my usual calmness. Countless residents in our municipality of Berglen have been affected and it seems that from Sunday to Monday the basement of every house near the stream filled with water overnight (though not ours). The otherwise idyllic Buchenbach forced its course, broke its banks and cars were washed away like toys. There were two fatalities in a neighboring community. Not to mention land slips, mudslides and rural destruction. Many older people have said: “I’ve never seen anything like it here.”
Nevertheless, we’ve got lots of registrations for today’s webinar and our wonderful experts are ready to go – so we’ll push through it all for you! It’s important that we do.
Today, we’ll be taking you on a journey into the world of derivatives, a major global topic when it comes to storage and transport. Together with the World Energy Council and EE Energy Engineers, we’ll be discussing the study entitled “Ammonia as an energy carrier for the energy transition.” During the presentation, you’ll get a summary of the 88-page document with lots of time for Q&As. Mitsubishi Power Europe will also be there to discuss power generation using gas turbines.
Webinar topic: Ammonia as an energy carrier for the energy transition
Our experts: Thomas Kattenstein , DMT ENERGY ENGINEERS | Dino Pezzella , Mitsubishi Power | Maira Kusch , World Energy Council - Germany

Care for another topic? Local ecosystems, perhaps? How about an impulsive trip to Bavaria, Germany, on June 5? Then come along to Paul Group for its annual event for movers and shakers “PIN21”! Go to https://pin21.events.paul.group/ and you’ll find all the details for the Paul Innovation Network event (German). Make sure to sign up using our partner token “hydrogenmoves-pin21.” One vital thing to note: It was reconfirmed to me yesterday that the area of Lower Bavaria around Passau is prone to flooding. High water levels up to and beyond 11 meters have been known in the past, so take care. Travel by car is the best option – there’s plenty of room in the parking lot!
Let’s keep moving onward and productively upward,
Silke Frank
