Flood control refers to the measures and strategies implemented to mitigate the impact of floods and reduce the risk of damage to lives. properties and infrastructure caused by floods, It involves a combination of structural and non structural measures aimed at managing and controlling the flow of water during flood events. Structural measures include the construction of dams a, levees ,flood wall and reservoirs to regulate water levels and divert or store water. Non-structural measures focus on land-use planning, floodplain zoning, early warning systems, and emergency preparedness to minimize the exposure and vulnerability of communities to floods.
