Flood Control Demonstration

Flood Control Demonstration

On Friday July 1st I received a phone call from a council member telling me that the Parish President was interested in viewing the Rapid H2o Flood control system at 8 am Tuesday morning the day after 4th of July.

At first thought the gulf coast team was like whoa, that is right after the holiday and many of our team members would be out of town are on their way back. This last minute on Friday evening put us in response mode and reminded us that We are Responders and,

The show must go on holiday are not.

Our decision left Masen Mendoza and I with 3 days of of weekend planning, studying, playing and learning the best was to become successful.

This morning 5:00 am I was on the way to prepare for the demonstration in the best ways possible.

During our set up we begin to gather attention from our friends, fishermen and local homeowners.

Through discussions and local knowledge we all agreeing the Rapid H2o would be the best choice for this little fishing town with many years of other flood control systems failures and hassles of; heavy equipment on small roads, blocked driveways, boat launches, fish docks and homes, along with the fleas and horse flies that come along with sand barriers.

Some complaining of having to raise hundreds of pounds of their daily catch up and over the normal sand baskets then again into their trucks.

The ‘sand basket lady’ has a last word on her photo going viral

Claire Landry “beaching” on Hesco baskets in Des Allemands. “I thought it would lift the spirits of my friends and neighbors and those of us who live along the water that will deal with the sand baskets on a daily basis in front of our homes,” Landry said. “The baskets, once placed, remain there until late October or early November. It’s a long four months of sand everyday. So I made the best of the situation to bring joy.”

When these locals begin to express their feelings of how the Rapid H2o would help their town. I became proud to know the Rapid H2o would easy their minds.

After hearing their thoughts, I felt blessed to have the local support.

Once the parish president had showed up Masen and I introduced ourselves and begin our demonstration.

After completion there were a few questions asked and information provided. Then we begin to talk about the many ways of how the H2o would give solutions to the local issues.
