"Floating Statue" by Underpinning System

On previous work, Pemuda statue is located on existing road junction. The Alignment of the cut and cover tunnel fall exactly beneath the statue. Autorithies didn't allow to relocation of the statue during the construction progress. They require very minimal impact on the structure during the construction.

As contractor we proposed underpinning system for protection requirement during construction. The statue will be connected to the angle bracket along all the four side and bracket will be connected into the beams. These beams will be supported by kingpost and which is plunged inside the bored pile. Soil will be excavated  after soldier pile has been installed and the box tunnel will be constructed under the statue. New foundation will be installed above the box tunnel then steel frames and kingpost will be removed. The construction sequence shall be as below :

Main concern in design the frame, we need to verify  the weight of statue (include foundation) and its center of gravity. Inclination shall be considered in the design to cover statue from tilting and displacement of statue shall be monitored during construction.

For the connection, steel frame support shall be connected with statue by using chemical anchor. Connection between steel frame support and king post shall be carried out by using bolts and nuts.
