The FLINT Report: March 29 | A Global Pulse on Threat Intelligence

Forward-looking data and key insights

As the lines between cyber and physical threats continue to blur, the Flashpoint 2024 Global Threat Intelligence Report offers organizations a vital analysis of the present and past year's threat landscapes.

Reflecting on 2023 and projecting into 2024, Flashpoint has observed notable increases in reported data breaches, vulnerability disclosures, and public ransomware attacks across various sectors. It's now more crucial than ever for organizations to prioritize investments in effective solutions and tools that enable them to protect their critical assets, guarding against substantial financial and reputational risks.

Comprehensive threat analysis

The Flashpoint 2024 Global Threat Intelligence Report provides a detailed examination of the latest trends in:

Vulnerabilities:?Last year, disclosures reached a record high, totaling over 33,137 vulnerabilities. Among these, over 35% have known public exploits. Flashpoint continues to observe similar trends in reported issues, disclosure rates, and exploitability.

Ransomware:?Public ransomware attacks have risen by 84% across all sectors. The first two months of 2024 alone have seen a 23% increase compared to the same period in 2023.

Data Breaches:?Our analysts discovered a 34.5% year-over-year increase in data breaches, with threat actors compromising over 17 billion personal records in 2023. Looking ahead to 2024, Flashpoint has observed a staggering 429% surge in stolen or leaked personal data compared to the same period last year.

Beyond bytes and bullets: The power of OSINT

This past year has also demonstrated the ongoing convergence of cyber and physical threats through the continuous conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the Israel-Hamas War, and the rising tensions in the Taiwan Strait. Highlighted in our report is an exclusive perspective from Flashpoint’s Executive Director of Global Security, Andrew Borene, who details the next evolution of open-source intelligence.
