Flight is 2,000 times safer than Car ... Why do we say "Safe travels"?

"Safe travels!" ... is said colloquially.

Did you know that commercial #flight is more than 2,000 times safer than traveling by car?

I love to think deeply. Sometimes I can't help myself! The #aerospace industry gets within your bones and connects not just with a #problemsolving orientation, but one of #wonder. Who doesn't think of being up in the clouds?

Cognitive science shows it is our perception of control, that dictates how we deal with stress. I have been known to explain the concept of #lift to nervous seat mates. Call me "school house rock" old-fashioned, but I've always believed "knowledge is power".

Listening to inspiring leaders like Billy Nolen, FRAeS and Ed Bastian , that are not just supreme operators; but #stewards and #students of the industry is always a treat. I have worked directly with the Federal Aviation Administration , National Transportation Safety Board and Delta Air Lines not just as a consumer, but a business partner, and their #culture has always been one of #excellence and #mission. My small part serving #customers in this amazing industry, through innovative products and services, continues to be unbelievably fun and deeply fulfilling.

In #aerospace, all say "Nobody competes on safety". Soon, I believe we'll say the same on #sustainability, as crumbling ecosystems are inherently #unsafe. Responsible for 3.5% of all drivers of climate change, the industry remains under intense scrutiny. #Aerospace will remain steadfast at continuous improvement, and lead many industries with technology from the front, as it has a history of doing.

The Aerospace ecosystem provides dignity of #labor and movement to countless humans. 10 million jobs, $1.25 Trillion economic impact, 37% higher wages and demand for labor that outstrips supply for more than the next decade in the domestic US alone. Not to mention the #opportunity to see all corners of the World if you wish. All builders, do'ers, explorers and thinkers are welcome!

Expanding modes of travel through and beyond the #atmosphere will lead to a much deeper understanding of our natural world, and help us define how to #collaborate and #thrive in it, as our species has for thousands of years. It's not about having our head in the clouds. It's about taking #humanity to new heights. I remain humbled to contribute to this noble cause.
