Flexible work will disappear without resistance.

Flexible work will disappear without resistance.

From a DEI perspective, flexible working is one of the most important policies a company can offer.

Not offering it means that as a company, you do not care about DEI as a matter of policy.

You do not care about workers with mobility requirements.

You do not care about workers with mental health requirements.

You do not care about workers from lower-income backgrounds.

You do not care about workers with complex childcare requirements.

And you certainly do not intend to honour your commitments to sustainable business practices.

If you cared about these groups, if you spoke with them, you would find that flexible working was transformative to their well-being.

You would find that flexible working is now deeply important in improving their opportunities to work well for themselves and their families and to work more effectively for you.

DEI has never been about press releases or earnest-sounding speeches in all-agency meetings. Yet, holding groups continue to treat DEI as a performative game—a useful tool to manipulate employees. A morality mirage to dazzle the industry.

Enough is enough. DEI demands action. It demands policies that listen to workers and work in their interests alone.

As workers, we can't continue to sit back and expect agency bosses to maintain policies that work for us. We have to exert more pressure on industry bosses to force their hands. If we don't do this, then many of us will lose flexible working entirely.

Flexible working practices benefit all workers as a whole but have transformative power for the lives of workers who have historically been overlooked and ignored by our industry.

Agreed. Flexible working is absolutely pivotal for DEI! Why go backwards when we’ve made such progress?!
