Flexible circuit boards compared to rigid boards !
Compared with general rigid printed circuit boards, flexible printed circuit boards have the following advantages and disadvantages:
1. Disadvantages of FPC:
(1) High one-time initial cost: Because the flexible PCB is designed and manufactured for special applications, the cost of preliminary circuit design, wiring and photographic plates is relatively high. Unless there is a special need to use a flexible PCB, it is best not to use it when it is used in a small amount.
(2) It is difficult to change and repair the flexible PCB: once the flexible PCB is made, it is necessary to change from the base map or the compiled light drawing program, so it is not easy to change. Its surface is covered with a layer of protective film, which must be removed before repairing and restored after repairing, which is a more difficult task.
(3) Standards are constrained: Flexible PCBs are generally manufactured by batch method when they are not yet common, so they are constrained by production equipment standards and cannot be made very long and wide.

(4) Improper operation is easy to damage: Improper operation of the installation and connection personnel can easily cause damage to the flexible circuit, and its soldering and rework require trained personnel to operate.
Second, the advantages of FPC:
(1) It can be easily bent, wound, and folded, and can be arbitrarily arranged according to the space layout requirements, and can move and elastic freely in three-dimensional space, and then achieve the integration of component devices and wire connections;
(2) The use of FPC can greatly reduce the volume and weight of electronic products, which is suitable for the needs of electronic products to develop in the direction of high density, miniaturization and high reliability. Therefore, FPC has been widely used in aerospace, military, mobile communications, laptop computers, computer peripherals, PDA, digital cameras and other fields or products;
(3) FPC also has good heat dissipation and solderability, as well as easy assembly and connection, and the overall advantages of lower cost. The design of soft and hard combination also makes up for the slight lack of flexible substrates in component bearing capacity to a certain extent.
