A flammable liquid is a liquid that has a flashpoint at or below 199.4 °F.?OSHA has mandatory requirements on the storage and usage of flammable liquids that must be followed which is one of the main reasons that aerosols and other flammable materials must be kept in flammable cabinets.

Many of the fires and explosions experienced in general industry are caused by (or contributed to) flammable liquids! Last year’s data shows that 99 fatalities were due to fires and explosions.
How do I know what is a flammable liquid and how dangerous it is?
There are many ways to know if a liquid should be stored in a flammable cabinet. Check the container for the GHS label or check the SDS for storage requirements. Category 1 is the most dangerous with the lowest flash point, category 4 is the least dangerous.

Where is it safe to store flammable materials?
Flammable materials must be stored in an approved flammable storage cabinet. Storage cabinets in your area should be yellow and easily accessible. If you are involved in a task that uses flammable liquids, ensure you know where the cabinet is and where to store these liquids. ?
How much flammable material may be stored outside of a cabinet & when must I return it to the cabinet?
Flammable materials such as wd40, aerosols, and many cleaners may be used as needed but must be returned to flammable cabinets after their use is complete.
Some flammables are on 5s boards and push carts. Is that a violation?
?While these must be continually accounted for due to site-specific reasons, OSHA allows up to 25 gallons of combustible liquids to be stored in a room outside of an approved storage cabinet.

How many cans/gallons are allowed in one area box or area?
Up to 60 gallons of flammable, or 120 gallons of combustible, liquid may be stored in any one storage cabinet. And no more than 3 cabinets may be used in any one area. Any additional quantities must be stored inside a room that meets NFPA Standards.
