Fixing Tech in #Africa
AYou may have noticed in the past few days, that I have shared some sentiments about the need for us to develop #Africa's startup ecosystem. #Africa is the next big market (probably is already the case) and we have to leverage on the proliferation of investments in the continent.
Almost every single day, I have a chat with entrepreneurs about the state of #Africa's ecosystem. These conversations centre around two major things:
- lack of funds
- access to market.
Startups need funds to scale up quickly. Very few startups are ever really able to grow because of their inability to access funds. The narrative has been the same for years and until we fix this problem, very few startups will make it beyond early stage. However, we need to create a #system that is comprehensive, to assess the needs of these startups. Not all startups need funding immediately, some need a strong business model to run. These structures need to be put in place to guide startups through their development cycle.
Good products need a responsive market to maximise revenue. How do we create a responsive market? It's simple - Just create products that are relevant to the market! This is a basic principle that we need to understand and actualise. There is a big market in Africa, which we need to leverage on to build a sustainable system.
I am sure many of you have great ideas and have the same reasoning. Kindly get in touch and lets work together to build!
