Fixing the NHS is one of the key points on the election battleground

From promising urgent GP appointments within 24 hours to increased funding, reforms and more staff recruitment, the NHS and public health is one of the key points on the election battleground. Understandably, the NHS continues to be one of the key issues of public concern and as such makes sense for politicians to promise reform. This is in recognition of the pressures and strains on the public health service, widely publicized in both the popular and the quality press. Making good on election promises regarding the NHS is welcome news for many?people still on waiting lists and requiring access to treatment. This is also welcome news for the insurance industry which has long relied on a strong NHS allowing people to have access to health services and as a result treasured cradle to grave medical reports which has direct impact on access to life insurance. An improved NHS means that people can have better access to health care which has an impact on insurance access. ?In case you missed it, here is an article that Kirsty Lowe and I wrote on how changes in the NHS are impacting the industry 2023-11-LH-Medical-Insight-UW-Claims-Insight.pdf (swissre.com) . Here we looked at how the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom is evolving to meet the changing face of modern healthcare as it grapples to deal with the current backlog of patients. As the NHS adapts and expands the roles of healthcare professionals, insurance companies must also keep pace with these changes to ensure we adapt our risk management tools to continue to accurately assess and price risks.
