Fixed Ops Organic Marketing Explodes with GMB

Fixed Ops Organic Marketing Explodes with GMB

Ever since I published my book "Hyper-Local Marketing for Automotive Retail" my email box has been blowing up with dealers who have questions regarding strategies to leverage Google My Business (GMB) for Fixed Operations. For years, dealers thought they could only have one Google My Business listing but today, they can have one for sales, service, and parts. In fact, dealers can have five if they also have a body shop, commercial truck department, a car insurance department, or a quick-lube lane!

Since so many dealers have ignored their GMB listing for service, independent service centers have dominated local organic search, via Google Maps. Today, I'm pleased to share data that shows optimizing GMB for service and parts is well worth the effort.

Results do not come overnight, but since dealers took my advice at the end of last year, we are now starting to see results after 90 days of focused attention.

The key to reviewing this data is that this traffic is incremental new visibility. The dealer never had a GMB listing for service. This dealer's GMB listing for sales was not showing up for generic searches like "oil change near me", "brake shop near me", or "auto repair shop".

Now dealers can start to appear for non-OEM service searches! In the example above, this dealer's SERVICE GMB listing appeared over 10,000 times last month.

The bigger WOW is that this dealer received 322 calls from consumers clicking on their GMB SERVICE listing and also 872 people clicked through to the dealer's website. When native service scheduling is added to GMB these numbers will be even more impressive.

All of this activity was generated from free organic traffic. The work to get GMB listings to stand proudly is search is not free but it is well worth the efforts. The work includes adding posts, products, services, photos, and reviews each month. Things get even more exciting when you add a little money behind promoting the GMB listing for service!

Dealers who have the staff to complete the required tasks to improve hyper-local search for fixed operations can follow the game plan I outline in my book "Hyper-Local Marketing for Automotive Retail".
