Fix it while you can
Daily planner, reminders, checklists and then the bucket list. Humans have a tendency to forget important tasks, not intentionally, but under the pressure of what we generally call “living”. We make a note, write on post-its, make it look fancy, put a reminder and get a fancy stick to strike off the things on our to-do-lists. When this practice started it was followed with the idea of it being helpful in our day-to-day lives. With time it has become more than a supplement. It became a necessity, and now more of a luxury, something people like to flaunt, maybe everyone wants to be busy and if they aren’t then a filled up planner might make them look busy.
Sure we live in a busy world. Busy with work, office work, personal work, family, house errands and so on. We all have important things to do that need to be done today, things that no matter how tied up we are we cannot push away, we make time for these things because they are a priority and everything else like that meal we were supposed to have together, that call we were supposed to make, the plan with friends which was long due, the sorry call we had to make, and everything else we put on hold for tomorrow because we think we have a tomorrow. Ever thought what if we didn’t? What if all we have is now and a few moments more before it all disappears? We take our life for granted and give up our today for tomorrow, but are we even going to see tomorrow, are we going to have a tomorrow?
It is a hard truth which we are not ready to face or ready to accept, because we are convinced in our head that life is long and we need to have a plan for our entire life right in front of us. We need to set a goal, follow a plan, stay focused, put on blinders. Sure it is important to have goals and work towards achieving them, but every goal or achievement in life will come at a cost. This cost will sometimes be our time, health, relationships, and everything else that is important but definitely lesser important relatively. It is only fair right, to win some you lose some? Isn’t it? We like to postpone, whatever we want to put away for later, or do not want to deal with right now, not necessary we do that because of circumstances, we sometimes procrastinate simply because we think we have enough time and we can do this later. But it’s important to deal with everything and fix everything while you can, and you can right now, there is no time like right now, you don’t know if you would get a tomorrow. We all push away our today for tomorrow.
All that fancy stuff about live in the moment, live for today, maybe it is true after all. You need to prioritize, so prioritize! Life has given you a chance today, what do you want to do with it? Will you put aside your planner and fix what really needs to be fixed? Will you keep everything aside and just be in the moment? Will you tell the ones who matter just how much you love them instead of putting it off till that annual birthday call? Are you going to take a step back from being busy and do what needs to be done? Think about it. What if today was going to be it? Would you do anything different or stick to your calendar? You can bring in the much needed change. Sleep over your troubles tonight, and when you wake up tomorrow, do something about everything you kept for later, prioritize, bring the change, speak up or maybe you can just drop whatever it is you are doing right now and go do that thing that you are thinking about as you read this, you know it, you know it needs to be done, you know you want to change things, you have time now, and if you think you don’t have time then realize the fact that you are still breathing, make time and go change your life…
Fix it while you can!
