- There is deviation from the core mission. The mission should not be profit or revenue. The mission should be how you are helping your clients solve their biggest effing problems. Profit comes from doing that. Not the other way around.?
- Most sales leaders don't give a flying 'F' about their people. They only care about them to the extent they can produce results that will impact the leader’s income. Not all, but most are this way.
- Sales teams are not taught digital technology in the way they should be. Every sales person should know how to produce a video, record a podcast, upload content, tell a great story on camera — but very few are. They are living in the old world. Hoping for it to come back. The joke will be on you.?
- There is no commitment to ongoing learning. There is little study of buyer psychology. There is a little study of seller psychology. There is almost no attention paid to getting the seller mindset right so that sales people can excel.
- There is very little belief among sales people in their own product or their own value. Ask one of your sales people to articulate the value of the company and watch them stumble. That's not their fault. That's you, leaders.
- There is no attention to helping sales teams build their personal brand in the market. No, I'm not talking about logos, colors schemes, or Photoshopped JPEGs. I'm talking about how every sales person should be building their reputation with their audience so they get the call when there's a problem.
- Not enough attention paid to top sales performers. These are the people who will leave you. And they won't leave because of money. They leave because they never got recognition and attention. Most leaders buy into the old adage, “He's doing fine, just leave him alone.” A recipe for disaster. Take 5% of your seller’s income and invest in them. They’ll never leave.?
- Zero investment in skill-building. Only 25% of businesses spend any money at all helping their sales team build skills for the future. If you don't start investing in your people, they will find a company that will. And they will be vapor.
Beers don't drink themselves. Cigars don't smoke themselves. And these problems won't fix themselves. It is up to you.
