Fix My Frame: Light Glare
McEwen Media
You want to share your story on a bigger stage. We have the skills and connections to get you there.
If you're tired of literally looking like a deer caught in headlights, the solution is easier than you might think.
A lot of us make the mistake of positioning the right light or any light source directly behind the camera of your laptop or phone. It makes sense. You want even light on your face, so the light should shine in the direction you're looking. But if you wear glasses, this means the light source is shining directly at your glasses and causing glare.
The solution is simple, but it does require the right ring light. The one I'm using right now is 18 inches. The bigger the better. Plus it has an adjustable stand.
Position the ring light so it's well above the camera. Then angle the head slightly to direct light on your face, but keeping the light source from shining directly at your glasses. You may need to increase the intensity too.
And just like that, balanced light hitting the face, but the light source is hitting just above my glasses. No glare.
Now if only we can fix the humidity...
