Five ways to kickstart your morning all before 8 am!

Five ways to kickstart your morning all before 8 am!

I love the mornings. There is something so peaceful about getting up before the sun and the rest of the world. It gives me time to think, more time to work on myself, get clear on my goals and enhance my mental and physical health.

I have put together my top five strategies to kickstart your morning, which I have found has had a huge impact on the rest of my day and ultimately my entire life!

I hope this article inspires you to think about how you can maximise your day and work towards the best version of yourself.

1.      Get up early

There is a reason why top performers rise and shine early. Waking up early and giving yourself time to reflect and set clear intentions is a powerful way to start the day.

Time is the one commodity that everyone has the same amount of; however, not everyone uses time wisely.

I was one of those people that for years would jump out of bed an hour before work and feel flat and tired by the time I arrived in the office.

These days it's a very different story. I am up at 5 am Monday- Friday. I do not set alarms on the weekend, but find that I naturally wake up at 5 am anyway. This change to my routine has been incredible.

Some of the benefits I have experienced include;

·      Sustained energy throughout the day

·      More time to learn and develop myself

·      Increased clarity and focus

·      Time for me to exercise, read, journal and reflect

Once I experienced the benefits of rising early, I never looked back. I tell myself if I snooze the alarm I am snoozing life! That gets me up and out pretty quickly ??

2.      Meditate

I started meditating four years ago, and I can honestly say it has changed my life. Sitting in silence, 1-2x a day has been extremely powerful.

Some of the benefits I have experienced include;

·      Lowered stress levels

·      Increased levels of self -awareness

·      More present with myself and others

·      Not as impacted by others or my environment

·      Know me, at a deeper level.

I encourage anyone who wants to find more inner peace, feel less stress, improve the relationship with yourself and others to find even 10 minutes a day to sit in solitude.

Sitting with your thoughts and getting clear on what you want to achieve that day, how you want to show up and what it is that you are grateful for, is an incredible way to start the day.

3.      Exercise

"Motion creates emotion."

Moving my body first thing creates a ripple effect for the rest of the day. It gives me energy, more focus and stamina. I do not find I get to 3 pm and crash or feel exhausted by the end of the day.

Exercising first thing has several amazing advantages that I have experienced;

·      Increased mood and makes me feel good

·      Boosts my metabolism

·      Increased energy levels

·      Lowers stress

·      Better sleep

Exercise does not have to be in the gym or a sweaty dark cycle studio. Waking up and going for a brisk walk or doing some yoga all counts. The most important thing is that you move your body and get your heart pumping.

Once you feel the benefits of exercising first thing you won't look back, I promise.

4.      Learn something new

Waking up earlier means you get more time to work on yourself. I like to incorporate learning when I am exercising and commuting. I often listen to an audible or a good podcast as it feels my mind with new ideas and positivity.

If you're like me and love to read then carry a highlighter to outline certain points you want to remember.

Learning something new before I start work is a great way to start the day and makes me feel like I have achieved something.

5.      Start a gratitude journal

Finally have an attitude of gratitude as soon as you wake up is the best way to attract more joy and fulfilment into your life.

Every morning I write down at least three things I am grateful for in my life at that moment. I find doing this before the day gets up and running has a huge impact as I start to notice everything in my life that I appreciate.

The science now backs why having a gratitude practise is so crucial for our health and happiness.

·      Gratitude strengthens and deepens relationships

·      Gratitude improves mental and physical health

·      Gratitude enhances empathy

·      Gratitude makes us happier and joyful

I hope these five strategies help you kickstart your day.
