Five trailblazing sustainability innovations in retail

Have you noticed an influx of ‘green’ shoppers in your store?

Consumers are increasingly prioritising sustainability when it comes to choosing the products they buy and the brands they purchase from. A 2022 Global Sustainability Study revealed that 89% of individuals worldwide have adopted a greener approach to their purchasing, with many even willing to pay extra for goods and services that are environmentally friendly.

We can all agree that sustainability conversations have become louder and louder over the past decade, with younger generations one of the biggest influencers in the ESG landscape. More than ever, retailers are being held accountable for their practices and what they sell, with consumers not afraid to shop elsewhere if they consider a brand to not match their own values.

In response, retailers are taking action to be kinder to the environment. From prioritising the sale of energy efficient products and implementing recycling programmes through to reducing packaging waste and educating customers on the importance of sustainable choices. However, some brands are going one step further by infusing sustainability with creativity to design innovative products and stand out initiatives that reduce environmental impact and promote responsible practices.
