Facebook has created one of the most robust advertising platforms available to marketers. I have put together five tips that will help you create some kick-ass ads. Here you go…
1. DON’T UNDERESTIMATE BOOSTED POSTS
Most marketers and advertising specialists will tell you that the worst thing you can do is boost a post. While they are saying that because they do not believe people use them effectively, boosted posts can be a very affordable way to build social proof on a Facebook page. You don’t want a page filled with posts and no engagement. Use a boosted post to an effectively targeted audience to build engagement on your page. It will instantly build social proof. Then invite those who have engaged with your posts to like your page and you will build your audience. This simple strategy will now help you build your audience and make your site look more reputable.
2. BUILD A BUNCH OF ADS
Facebook doesn’t charge you by the number of ads in an ad set. In fact, many professional ad experts believe that increasing the number of ads in your ad sets will lower your cost-per-click (CPC) and increase your impressions. The maximum number of ads you can put in an ad set is 50. Try rotating text between the ad text, headline, headline description fields. Try different variations of your text, experiment with different graphics, and then combine the different variations to create several ad possibilities.
3. PLAY WITH DIFFERENT TARGETS/AD SETS
Sometimes your most effective audiences will be the ones that you don’t expect. Too many people walk into a campaign thinking they know exactly who they should reach. Sometimes your best results will come from audiences you don’t expect. Also be sure to use different types of audience. For example, you should include a mix of your existing fans, people who have engaged with you online, people who have visited your website, subscribers to your email list, targeted audiences, lookalike audiences, etc.
4. USE THE GRAPHIC FOR GRAPHICS AND TEXT FOR TEXT
Many people get caught with the 20% rule. This rule will reduce the number of impressions shown on ads with a graphic with more than 20% text Just forget about putting text in your graphics and use the graphics to show some powerful visuals. Use the text above and below the ads for compelling content.
5. TRUST FACEBOOK
There are a few times at which Facebook gives you the opportunity to let them decide how to display your ads. Facebook wants to create the best results for their advertisers. Try giving them the ability to do just that. Allow Facebook to pick placements or use their targeted interest groups. Give it a try and see if they get results. If they don’t, discontinue those ads/ad sets. If they do, you will be pleasantly surprised.
