Five tips to Improve your Business Networking

Five tips to Improve your Business Networking

The biggest mistake that I see people making both at in person business networking meetings and also online meetings is that they don't see it as a huge opportunity to grow their business immediately.

Maybe it's because many people say that networking takes time. But it doesn't have to. And using LinkedIn and Networking combined has doubled my revenue year on year for the past two years. That can happen for you too. So here are some tips that you can consider before your next meeting.

These 5 steps are going to help you to network with ease:

  1. Before you network, think about the impression that you want to make both at the meeting and when people follow up. Do you look your best (consistent to how you do when people work with you?) If it's online, can they see your face clearly. Avoid sitting in front of a window.
  2. When you are in the room share a simple statement of what you do, and ask more questions about other people's business than answering questions.
  3. Take a screenshot of your LinkedIn profile QR code so that you can share it with the people that you meet to easily connect with them afterwards. At an online meeting, share your profile in the meeting chat.
  4. Take selfies with people, or suggest a screenshot if you're on Zoom. Then share an insight about the meeting on LinkedIn and why you enjoyed the meeting and tag the people that you have connected with in the photo using the @ sign.
  5. Follow up with a direct message to say that you enjoyed talking to the people that you met and suggest a one to one call.

?? And one more - make sure that your LinkedIn profile is ready to communicate how the people that you meet either in person or online can take the next step towards working with you.

So before you network, prepare your plan for where people can find out more about you. Be engaged in the meeting. Leverage your experience of the meeting within 24 hours of the meeting on LinkedIn to make sure that you harness the energy that people experienced in the room.

The fact is that after the meeting, people are going to do an online search and one of the first results will be your LinkedIn Profile.

So make sure that it reflects what you are sharing in your networking meetings. That it is professional. And allows prospective clients to take the next step towards hiring? you.
