Five Scientific reasons to celebrate Diwali..3rd one is our favorite

1. Light- Night

Did you know that in Diwali, this shape of lanterns was given by the ancestors, as it is the oldest form of geometrical shapes? Those old geometric forms are nowadays studied in engineering as well. The shape of this traditional Indian lantern has ten sides. These ten directions/sides have the utmost importance in Hindu Vaastu Shastra (Science of architecture).

It is enchanting to note that it was an ancient belief of our ancestors that Gods in heaven would only be satisfied/pleased if we would light up the crackers and light up the sky. Light also signifies the promotion of a deeper realization of one’s inner light. Diwali signifies and symbolizes this light in the form of lighting up the firecrackers.

3. Sweet tooth!!!

A mother’s love has no equal! Surely, love in the form of making sweets for the kids during Diwali is also incomparable! The sweets are not meant to harm the teeth or clog the arteries but when cooked with the right amount of oil, they are truly delicious and a symbol of love and care that emanates from the mother herself.



4. Gift to Lift spirits:

A gift is something that can be purchased by us but when it is given to us by near and dear ones, the anticipation in the minds of the children the night before Diwali is extremely memorable. In fact, the clothes that are gifted and worn during Diwali are meant to be colorful because, in Hindu Dharma, Black and White are associated with funerals.


5. Flower- Power

Gerbera daisies especially the yellow color symbolize scientifically some sort of sunshine ( light and positive energy). The vibrant flowers and their color represents happiness, gratitude, and a multitude of cheerfulness to the one who receives them. Orange daisies symbolize enthusiasm and positive energies coupled with warmth ( love and affection). As per color psychology, the impact of colors on people has been proven scientifically and experienced by people as well.
