Five reasons why your business definitely doesn’t need marketing

“Small businesses don’t really need marketing”.
Someone said this to me on the phone the other day and once I had buried the part of my soul that dies whenever this phrase is repeated, I started thinking about the kind of world where this would be true.?
So, with this bold statement in mind, here are five reasons why you should definitely side-step any form of marketing for your business completely and forever.?
1. You have no need for new customers, ever
You have a product or service and a perfectly sized team to handle requests and delivery. You have enough customers to hit your revenue targets, and nobody ever stops buying, or ever will stop buying from you.?
In this case, there is no need for paid advertising, lead magnets, email follow ups or any kind of social media presence to get noticed and get leads.
2. Your customers have no complaints, questions or expectations
The people who buy from you just do it, all the time, without having any kind of contact with your business outside of their purchasing transactions. Not one of them has ever asked a question and there’s no need to ever make them feel special or cared about.?
Coooool. Skip sending out a newsletter, issuing video updates or adding any type of value for your clients. They’ll hang around indefinitely anyway.?
3. Nobody else does what you do or sells what you sell
You have no competition, at all, and there is no threat of anyone ever, at any stage, coming in and taking market share.?
In this case, you don’t need to come up with case studies, share testimonials or build an audience by sharing thoughtful, helpful content that reminds people why your business is better than the rest.?

4. There is zero risk that anything will change?
Having a surplus of leads and customers is just stupid; why build up a database or take on extra business to grow your cash reserves? The economy will always be exactly the way it is today and your market of purchase-ready customers is 100% set in stone as well.?
Phew! You don’t need to keep track of customers with a database of phone numbers and email addresses. And don’t bother with following up and upselling; that would be a massive waste of time.?
5. The money you earn, right now, is enough
Sure, marketing might help you double your business (or heck, doing it regularly could even help you prepare it for a quick and profitable sale), but… schmeh. Whatever.?
You can forget about creating opportunities for people to get to know who you are and what you’re about. There’s no need for social media, Facebook ads, brochures or helpful videos.?
If you nodded in agreement with every single one of the above, congratulations. You never, ever need to do any marketing or customer engagement. You’ve done better than every business on the planet, ever, and I’m proud of you.?
BUT! If any of the following give you a warm tingly feeling of excitement and anticipation, we probably need to talk:?
Yep, these are some of the goals marketing can help you achieve.?
It doesn’t have to be complicated. You just need to come up with a plan, and keep letting people know you exist.
BTW, I can help you do that. Send me a message and let’s talk.?
