Five Reasons Why Killings (of drug violators] Ought Not Be Pursued
Not a few leaders around the world today believe that “killing drug users and traffickers” is the only way to stop the pestering drug problem in the world. Unfortunately, those who have tried it—failed! And all those who are still trying, they [as sure as the sun will rise in the east] will, too, fail. And I can explain it why! Only one reason: “Killing is so perfectly devoid of any tinge of morality in it that God could never ever allow it to succeed!”
May I present FIVE REASONS why killing ought not be pursued:
FIRST OF ALL, if killing is the SOLUTION, then why kill by “tens of thousands” and not by “hundreds of millions.” Hence, if there are 200 million users and sellers in the world, and you killed only a hundred thousand, there yet remain 199,900,000 users and traffickers, am I right? You ought to wipe them all out down to the last user and pusher, I guess. And if a new set of 200 million users emerge, wipe them all out again—without much hullabaloo and mercy.
SECONDLY, many people believe killing is a good DETERRENCE! If it is, I just wonder why do crimes yet abound in countries with the death penalty.
Truly, if the world is looking for deterrence, what can surpass TORTURES? Extrajudicial killings and death executions are nothing compared to tortures done in full view of the public: “The more brutal the torture is, the greater the likely deterrence is.” I believe ten out of ten people you’ll ask would rather choose to be guillotined than mercilessly tortured. For lookers of deterrence, “seek the legalization of BRUTAL TORTURE, not DEATH PENALTY!”
If you want ANOTHER DETERRENCE that is much more powerful than torture, lace all drugs with CYANIDE so that takers are instantly dead in one taking. I bet a thousand deaths alone are enough to scare the hell out of the million users around the world!
THIRDLY, many people believe that killing is justified by the fact that prompt elimination of drug offenders SAVES INNOCENT LIVES who may potentially be harmed by the users high on drugs. In all fairness, though, we ought to also apply the same principle: To all imbibers of alcohol, since, statistics-wise, alcohol had really done more damage to life and properties than all the illegal drugs combined; To all egomaniac leaders of the world who are quick to kill political opponents when opposed in their views; To all corrupt public officials who steal by the millions and billions that drive many to wretched impoverishment and to the very crimes of illegal drugs that we are now condemning here as most evil; To all dealers of the so-called licensed guns that become sources of weapons to kill and even massacre innocent people like concert-goers, church-goers, movie-goers, party-goers, market-shoppers, and school-children; and To all rogue police officers who really are devils in uniform.
The key to preventing harm to innocent lives by wayward substance users is to be able to spot, report, and apprehend the users at the first sign of detection. And this is where we are all called upon by our motherland: “To be concerned enough to inform the authorities of the drug-dirt around us.” If we don’t do our duty on this, “we are more dangerous than the evil we condemn!” The world is full of hypocrites who are good at bashing and denunciation but poor in lending action.
FOURTHLY, when users and pushers get arrested, they have already been effectively put away, haven’t they? So why yet kill them? If ever they get to escape, then the finger must point at the apprehenders or jailers, not the escapees.
FIFTHLY, some believe drug abusers are no longer viable as human beings to ever yet remain on this planet since their brains have already shrunk and are beyond redemption where rehabilitation is not an option anymore. With this reasoning, it stands to reason, too, that all people who are suffering from a stroke and those with total paralysis from head to foot had better be euthanized for being unviable as human beings in the world.
LASTLY, we say that illegal drugs are evil, foremostly because “they kill users.” But then here we are “killing the drug-users” whom we are supposed to protect and save from the harmful drugs that kill. Can you make that out—because I can’t!
LIFE IS SACRED! In fact, of all the things that God created, life is the most sacred one. Why should it not be: It was God’s mind that designed it, God’s hands that shaped it, and God’s spirit that he breathed into it. It is the killing of life on earth that will be the most heinous crime we can ever commit against the goodness of God to man.
Tell me, how could you reconcile a “God on one side” who is so good and even offered his only begotten Son on the cross to bring fullness of life to the world, with the “people of God on the other side” who are trigger-happy in snuffing out lives just because the condemned made the mistake of taking drugs instead of the righteousness of God?
Offenders ought to be reformed, not destroyed! All the users, pushers, dealers, and producers—the mere fact that they all surrender and willing to change—ought to be rehabilitated and reformed, not killed. You can only appreciate this better when you are standing right before the presence of the Lord waiting for his judgment upon your deeds.
But you might be that person who does not believe there is God. If you are this person, there is one thing I want to tell you. There is still God.
THAT GOD IS YOU!
Anyone who believes there is no God, puts himself as the most powerful and dependable person in his life. If he fails, it is he; if he succeeds, it is he. If he lives, it is he; if he dies, it is he. He does not have any need for anyone in his struggles and pains in life, just as he does not owe anyone in his joy and glory. He is the CENTER of his own universe, the CREATOR of his own world, the MASTER of his own life, and the GOD of his own flesh and bones!
