Five minutes with Lauren from our Social Prescribing team
In recognition of Social Prescribing Day, we spoke to Lauren Perry who is the Project Coordinator for our Social Prescribing program. Lauren explained just what social prescribing means and her work with IPC Health.
How long have you worked at IPC Health and what do you do?
I am the project coordinator for the Social Prescribing and Power Over Pain programs. I have only been with IPC Health since April 2021 but I've really been enjoying my work here so far.?
What is Social Prescribing and why is it important?
Social prescribing at IPC Health is about linking people to programs, services or activities that aim to improve their overall health and wellbeing. Social prescribing as an activity happens organically in all areas of the community and health sectors however the important point of difference about our program is that we work from the health lens, with the client's health outcomes in the focus at all times. The work of our Social Prescribing program is important as it enhances the work of other teams within the organisation and allows for collaboration all while also supporting positive outcomes for clients. It’s a wonderful and unique model.??

What’s the best part about your job?
The best part for me is the dynamic community and stakeholder engagement that I'm involved with. I love managing different working relationships and hearing about what others are doing in the organisation and more broadly.??
What’s the best part about working in our communities?
I love hearing clients’ stories. As I have social work background, I truly believe that the client is the expert on their life and that we simply support them on their journey with us. I really enjoy hearing about their experiences, both positive and negative, and how they found themselves to be where they are currently.?
